You don’t need to be a "Scouting Expert" to help!
Whether you are a parent, a grandparent, or a neighbor, we have a spot for you! The best part? You get a front-row seat to our Scout’s growth and get to be part of the "magic" that makes Scouting happen.
That’s perfectly okay! Most of our current leaders hadn't either.
Pack 948 has been helping kids in our community experience the outdoors and build character since 1947. For over 75 years, this Pack has thrived entirely through the generosity of volunteers. It’s a relay race of traditions, gear, and knowledge handed off from one generation of parents to the next.
When you volunteer, you aren't expected to know everything on day one. You are stepping into a legacy where:
Everyone has a "Super Power": Whether you’re a pro at organizing spreadsheets, a backyard grill-master, a DIY builder, or just really good at wrangling a group of energetic kids, we want to use the skills you already have. Our goal is to find a role that lets your specific talents shine.
Knowledge is shared: You’ll be working alongside other parents who were in your shoes just a year or two ago. We don't just hand you a manual; we help you find your footing.
The Gear is ready: We have the supplies, the history, and the community; we just need your energy to keep the tradition moving forward!
We know everyone is busy, so we have roles that fit every schedule:
The "Big Roles": Den Leaders, Cubmaster, and Committee Members. These are the folks who help lead the meetings and keep the Pack organized.
The "Behind the Scenes": Helping with the Pack website, managing the budget, or coordinating a campout.
The "One-and-Done": Helping run a station at the Pinewood Derby, help kids catch a fish, or helping clean up after a Pack meeting.
We take safety seriously, but the requirements depend on your level of involvement:
If you are a registered leader, you must complete a background check and Youth Protection Training (YPT). This is a Scouting America online course that covers how to keep kids safe.
If you're just helping out at a daytime meeting or event, you don't need the formal training—just a willingness to help out!
